A complicated Week-end !
A complicated week-end !
The fourth round of the World Series by Renault was held this weekend on the Hungaroring Formula 1 track. The goal for Norman was to confirm his thirdplace finish at the last meeting (Nurburgring).
However, like the championship leader, Carlos Sainz Jr (8th in race one and 13th in race two.) Norman and his team had great difficulty finding a performant setup for this atypical track …
A difficult management of the qualifying session, combined with persistent oversteer, allowed him to realize only the 12th time of his group in qualifying one.
Norman and his team managed to raise their performance level in qualification 2 by making the fifth lap of the group.
In Race 1, the Race GP driver began a long ascent of 11 places with very incisive overtaking as usual. He crossed the line in 13th position.
In Race 2, Norman went back in eighth position despite very difficult track conditions, with the 3 last laps under rain with slick tires.
Norman: ”It was a difficult race weekend for the whole team. The balance of the car improved for the qualification 2 and the race on Sunday, we were able to score 3 points in the championship.
We must learn from this weekend full of lessons both in sport and technical, in order to play a leading role at Silverstone. ”
Next event: Silverstone on 20 and 21 August.
